Bewertungen für "Cabinet Hardware Jig"

Could be much better

Great for aligning cabinet hardware shorter than a 5" span from the top of the jig. Anything longer and you need to remove the piece that aligns with the outer edge of the door or drawer, so for deep drawers that you want to center hardware on, this becomes an issue. This is especially an issue because the back of the jig isn't smooth, therefore when clamped to the cabinet, a honeycomb type of mark from the mold extrusion is left on the cabinet, and can been seen at the right angle. Be careful if you do need to remove this piece for deeper drawers and use a scrap piece of cardboard.

Wonderful jig

We do a lot of cabinet installations and this jig has made handle installation easier. We would love to see a longer and deeper version to accommodate an 8 in handle and deeper drawers.

Needs Other drill bit guide sizes

This seems to work really well, but I agree with most, there should be other drill bit sizes since not all hardware uses the same size of screws (3/16). I think offering other sizes as accessories you can purchase in addition would be a great idea.

Larger drill accommodation would be a nice option

This jig works fine, as long as a 3/16" mounting hole will suffice. Our kitchen plan used knobs for the doors and cup style pulls for the drawers. The jig worked great for the knobs, but the drawer pulls have two 1/4" x 1/4" bosses around the mounting screws. This is not an uncommon feature on drawer pulls. I had to counterbore after locating with the jig, an extra step that requires a lot of care and attention. A nice addition to this tool would be to make optional sized swappable drill bushings available.

Great tool, Minor Problem to look for

I have lots of pulls to install at two locations. Worked great at the smaller location making the task quit speedy. However, after installing I noted a small dimple on all the doors almost under the pull. Plastic had a "mold extrusion" on the back that left a mark on all the doors. At least it is consistent but these are very smooth finish doors and it does show. Before using check to be sure the back is absolutely smooth. Otherwise a great tool.

Good but...

New house - 84 knobs and pulls. Bought this to install them and save a bunch of $$$. The concept is great but I found two flaws. One the "stop bar" does not get close enough to the edge to get in the center of any of the doors in our rooms, worked great on single height drawers though. The other issue is it's not tall/wide enough to do larger double depth drawers. I do love the drill guides as that keeps the holes nice and straight which is super important for pulls. There should be an add on piece to the "stop" which would get it to the center of the door frame and making the whole thing longer would make it perfect. Still a time saver but there was still a lot of measuring to find the centers. I did like the price point!

Positioning Issues

This fixture works very good on wider wood stock but not so well when using on 1 X 2 or narrower wood. The design of the positioning fence will not allow for centering the hardware at 3/4" from the edge or less depending on the width of the wood without putting a spacer on the face of the fence. This works only OK but, is a pain to keep the spacers in place while clamping and drilling. It would be nice if the fence were redesigned or a secondary fence was available for use on narrow wood stock.

It's the customer service which makes me come back

I just called customer service because one of the grey guides came apart during an install. I have had the product for about a month and just installed my 28th pull. I didn't expect the product to malfunction. Now.. it's a great product and does what it says. So 100% worth it. Just wish guides were better built. So I didn't hesitate to pick up the phone and call customer service. I believe I spoke to Bill (didn't wait at all) . Nice guy.. I explained what happened. He said he apologized the product failed and without question sent me 2 replacements. That is great customer service. I am less upset the product failed and more likely to purchase product from Kreg simply because I know if I have an issue, there is no question it will get resolved. Site note... Make an 8 inch version of this! Regards, S

Great Tool........but

The machine bolts on my cabinet hardware are 8-32 and they fit in the 5/32 hole in my drill guide. When the 5/32 holes are drilled the screws fit properly, snug, not too tight and not too loose. Using the 3/16 guide makes the drill sloppy in the guide holes and I have to be careful when drilling it, because my cabinet drawers are inset where the handles mount and the gap between the jig and cabinet face makes accuracy even more difficult. I'm not keen on drilling oversized 3/16 holes in the cabinets, that would create issues later down the road with hardware moving around if the screws become loose. Also I really want the holes drilled exact so when I look down a drawer cabinet all the handles line up exactly plum and straight. Can you guys make smaller guides to fit the 5/32 drill bits ? I would like a more exact product Thank You Mr G

Great start

I love it, installed all the pulls in my kitchen in a snap! The only thing I would say is it would be nice to have an extension for large drawers. Mine are shaker panels and about 13" so trying to clamp the jig inside the shakers was a bit of a trick. Would be awesome to have a few slides to make it easier. Just my $0.02.

WOW

I just used my new Cabinet Hardware Jig to apply drawer pulls to my newly build cabinets. GREAT PRODUCT. This is the perfect jig to add to any DIY/Professional's tool box.

Kitchen Makeover

I received this jig for Christmas and have been practicing with it over the holidays. I've re-doing the kitchen, which entails sanding and painting the old varnished cabinets. I had the lower half of the cabinets done and started working on the upper half yesterday. After sanding down several doors, I whipped out my hardware jig and within several minutes of measuring and setting it up, I drilled eight holes for my new handles in less than two minutes. They were all perfectly centered, all equidistant on each door, and they look fantastic. Remembering how I did the lower cabinets by measuring each handle location (sometimes twice) on each door or drawer with my ruler, making sure they were level and equidistant on each door, that was all very time consuming. They turned out nice, but what a time killer. Now I don't have to worry about that at all. {Smile}

Don't go with out

I have been using the Rockler version for years. I had to alter it for larger MM sizes. This tool is worth the price even if you only use it for one job.
